The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and the consortium MNR and IBM Vietnam co-organized the Launching Ceremony of the SBV’s new data center under the SG1.2 Contract namely “Supplying, installing and moving the SBV's new Data Center" of project Financial Sector Modernization and Information Management System (FSMIMS) funded by World Bank (WB).

The ceremony was attended by the SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh, General Secretary of Vietnam Banking Association Nguyen Toan Thang, and representatives of SBV entities and contractors.
New data center is located at the Building of Banking Data Center and National Payment Center at 64 Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Hanoi. The total square of the Center is nearly 2,000m2, occupied the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of the 9th floor of the building with functional rooms to meet the operational needs with the supplying capacity of 100 rack cabinets at the first stage. The SBV’s new data center is the first data center of the banking sector that is designed and built in accordance with the Tier 3 standard combining 4 elements: module design, high availability, energy saving and expandability in the future.
The data center is put into operation after 4 months design, 7 months of construction. Currently, this is a modern and unique data center of banking sector and the SBV instead of being dispersed in 63 provinces and cities as before. It is operated in accordance with the standards and procedures of a Tier 3 data center, ensuring 99.982% availability and total discontinuity of 1.6 hours per year.

Delivering a keynote speech at the ceremony, the SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh stated that project FSMIMS, funded by the WB, has implemented successfully and put into operation a number of professional information systems including Core Banking, ERP, document management, the centralized data warehouse, etc.
"The establishment of the new Data Center is a pride of the SBV in implementing a significant project making an important milestone in the modernization process of the SBV's information technology platform, in line with the development direction of Vietnam banking industry in the international integration tendency." said Deputy Governor.

In order to promote further the results of the FSMIMS Project in general and the new data center in particular, Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh requested the PMU, the IT Department and the contractors to work closely to train and transfer technology efficiently, ensuring the operation of the SBV’s new data center in a safe and effective manner and play the role of the heart of IT systems of the SBV and the whole banking industry of Vietnam.
