On May 16, 2018, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien had a meeting with Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana, President of the Export-Import Bank of Thailand (Eximbank).
Overview of the meeting
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien warmly welcomed the delegation of Eximbank high ranking officers led by Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana to visit and work with the SBV. He emphasized that the cooperation relations between Vietnam and Thailand continues to prosper and has obtained many positive progresses, especially following the official visit to Thailand by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Thailand is currently Vietnam’s biggest trade partner in the ASEAN. With regard to the banking and finance sector, Vietnam and Thailand have signed an MOU on bilateral cooperation. The cooperation relations between the commercial banks of Vietnam and their counterparts operating in Thailand have been playing effectively the bridging role between the investors and businesses of the two countries.
For his part, Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana, on behalf of the Eximbank delegation, sincerely thanked Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien for his time and hospitality. He also spoke highly of the achievements Vietnam has obtained in the socio-economic development, and expressed his hopes that the SBV and other relevant authorities would support Eximbank in establishing its representative office in Vietnam. He also hoped that the two sides could further share and exchange experience and operational expertise in the areas of banking and monetary management.
