On November 13-14, 2019 in Singapore, the delegation of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) led by Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong attended the 55th SEACEN Governors’ Conference/High-level Seminar and the 39th Meeting of the SEACEN Board of Governors.

Attending the 55th SEACEN Governors’ Conference were Governors and Deputy Governors of the member central banks/Monetary Authorities of SEACEN, together with senior representatives from the BIS, the Indian Supreme Court, the National University of Singapore, Dvara Research Institute, the UK Financial Management Company, TransferWise, AXA, Element AI, the Asian Digital Center. The Conference focused on two discussion themes: (i) Data-based economy: the role, impact of data and digital boundaries in an increasingly connected digital economy; (ii) AI-based economy: how regulatory agencies can support the financial industry to better exploit the potential of artificial intelligence and analyze data in creating changes responsibly and ethically.
The 39th Meeting of the SEACEN Board of Governors approved the programs for training, researches, conferences, seminars, the budget plans and some other administrative issues for 2020. Especially, at the Meeting, the Governors also adopted the Strategic Plan for the 2020-2022 period, which introduces core activities in the medium term with the aim of promoting SEACEN's role as a knowledge center, promoting SEACEN brand in the training programs, and improving the quality of research projects in order to provide the regional perspective.
As a SEACEN member since 2006, the SBV has been exchanging policies with other members and improving the capabilities for its officials through short-term courses abroad and in Vietnam on macro- economic management, monetary policy, financial stability, supervision and inspection, payment systems, leadership and human resource management. At the same time, in the recent years, SEACEN has carried out research projects on topics such as monetary policy, liquidity, inflation, interbank spread risks, etc. These are essential substances for the monetary policy and banking operation management of the SBV, as well as the coordination of policies among the member countries.
