On March 3, 2020 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong - cum Head of the SBV’s Steering Committee for ASEAN 2020 Banking Cooperation - chaired a meeting with other members of the Steering Committee and support groups (composed of leaders and representatives of the SBV relevant Departments) in order to undertake the tasks when the SBV assumes the role of the Chair/co-Chair of the ASEAN financial and banking cooperation agenda.
At the meeting, the SBV International Cooperation Department briefed on the progress and the work plans for the different tasks, i.e. protocol-logistics, communication and information dissemination for the Conferences and other high-level financial and banking events chaired/co-chaired by the SBV in 2020 (it is expected that there will be a lot of events, including the Central Bank Governors’ Meetings, the Finance Ministers’ Meetings, the Working Groups’ meetings, and other sideline events). Amid the adverse impacts of the Covid-19 outbreak, the organization of the series of events will have to take a number of changes to ensure alignment with the guidelines of the National ASEAN 2020 Committee. The representatives of the participating Departments then discussed and made recommendations about the preparation in terms of contents, protocol-logistics arrangements, and communication in order to ensure successful organization of the above events.
Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong speaks at the meeting
In concluding the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong requested the SBV International Cooperation Department, as the focal point, to continue to coordinate closely with the relevant Departments to undertake the assigned tasks as stated in the Plans related to the contents, protocol-logistics, and communication which have already been approved by the Governor. In addition, the SBV will actively coordinate with the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Finance, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, the General Department of Vietnam Custom, etc. in order to ensure the success of the series of events. The Steering Committee will continue to direct the units to accelerate the preparatory work for the upcoming events, contributing to the overall success of Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020.
