On September 22, 2023, in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) organized a ceremony to announce the SBV Governor’s Appointment Decisions of senior members of the Board of Directors of Saigon Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SCB).
First Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu hands over the Appointment Decision of SCB’s Chairman to Mr. Phan Dinh Dien
After over one year under the special control measures by the SBV, the SCB has quickly and actively coordinated with the SBV departments, the relevant Ministries and agencies, as well as the authorities of Ho Chi Minh city, in implementing the solutions in compliance with the laws to ensure the safety of the banking system and the legitimate rights and interests of depositors. Up to now, the SCB has gradually stabilized its operations and step by step resolved the difficulties and obstacles, as well as focused on developing the bank’s Scheme for restructuring.
At the ceremony, the representative of the SBV Human Resource Department announced the SBV Governor’s Appointment Decisions of senior members of the SCB’s Board of Directors. Based on the working requirements, the SBV has decided to terminate the appointment of Mr. Vu Anh Duc as the Chairman of the SCB’s BOD. Accordingly, Mr. Vu Anh Duc would end his duty as the SCB’s Chairman, and would be mobilized to hold an important position back at VietinBank.
After having considered and evaluated a number of candidates’ capacity, the SBV has decided to appoint Mr. Phan Dinh Dien as Chairman of the SCB’s BOD, replacing Mr. Vu Anh Duc, starting from September 22, 2023. Mr. Phan Dinh Dien would end his duty as a member of the Agribank’s Board of Members to make this move to the SCB.
As an officer with extensive experience working in the banking industry for nearly 30 years, Mr. Phan Dinh Dien has held leadership positions at the department and branch levels, and became a member of the Agribank’s Board of Members. During that process, Mr. Phan Dinh Dien always showed good political and moral qualities, a high sense of disciplines and responsibility, and has always fulfilled successfully his assigned tasks. Especially, Mr. Phan Dinh Dien has a lot of experience in resolving non-performing loans (NPL).
Congratulating Mr. Phan Dinh Dien on his new position, Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu requested Mr. Phan Dinh Dien to continue promoting his capacity and experience, together with the Board of Directors and the Board of Management, as well as all officers and staff of the SCB, to successfully accomplish the assigned tasks.
