On October 6, 2023, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the SBV Central Banking Department and the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) jointly organized VIET SWIFT 2023 Annual Meeting in order to discuss and update the operational situations, the new policies, standards, applications and solutions of SWIFT for the credit institutions and the foreign bank branches using SWIFT in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, Director General of the SBV Central Banking Department cum Chairman of VIETSWIFT, delivered an opening speech and provided a brief report on the current membership situation and the payment operations through SWIFT, the activities of VIETSWIFT Committee, as well as the community of SWIFT users in Vietnam over the past time. Moreover, the Chairman of VIETSWIFT also shared about the positive outcomes when from VIETSWIFT’s participation at Sibos 2023 Conference, which attracted more than 9,000 participants from all over the world.

Also at the Meeting, the experts from SWIFT provided some updated information on the changes and new requirements of SWIFT for the Customer Security Program (CSP), the RMA Portal Migration, the ISO 20022 Swift Translation, the Alliance Release Timeline, and the upgradation of the SWIFT system to version 7.7, the replacement of the HSM Box. The experts also introduced about the new applications and solutions developed by SWIFT, such as SWIFT Essentials, APIs, Alliance Cloud, which enable SWIFT members to increase the consumers’ utilities, enhance the security, and facilitate the international payment.

Besides, the representatives from the credit institutions and the foreign bank branches also discussed about the current policies, the applications, the solutions and requirements of SWIFT with SWIFT experts in order to come up with possible solutions for their respective institutions, ensuring smooth payment operations through SWIFT.
