On February 28, 2024, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the SBV and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) co-organized a Conference on strengthening the assurance of information security and safety in the banking sector. The Conference was co-chaired by SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Public Security, and SBV Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung.

At the Conference, the speakers all emphasized that in light of an increase of hi-tech crimes both in Vietnam and around the world, the assurance of information security and safety in the banking sector is extremely critical. Therefore, the entities in the banking industry, apart from enhancing their capabilities through investing more in equipment, softwares and human resources to ensure information security and safety in their banking operations, need to coordinate closely with the MPS to prevent and combat hi-tech crimes.
An overview of the Conference
Toward the end of the Conference, SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong recognized and highly complimented the efforts and the encouraging results of the SBV entities, the credit institutions and the payment intermediary service providers in the assurance of information security and safety of the banking sector.
The SBV Governor also expressed her beliefs that the IT application, the digital transformation and the assurance of information security and safety in the banking sector would continue to transform positively, contributing to promoting the development of modern e-banking services, providing diversified products and services, improving customers’ experience, and fully meeting the demands and expectations of the people and businesses.
