Governor Nguyen Van Binh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Kyaw Kyaw Maung, Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar, in Hanoi on August 6.
At the meeting, Governor Nguyen Van Binh congratulated on the achievements that Myanmar has obtained in the implementation of reforming the economy, reducing poverty and improving living standards over the past time. He emphasized that Vietnam hoped for further cooperation with Myanmar for the common interests.
For his part, Governor Kyaw Kyaw Maung expressed his impression on encouraging results that Vietnam and the SBV have achieved in macro- economic stability, economic development, especially the restructuring of the banking sector.
Moreover, Governor Nguyen Van Binh and Governor Kyaw Kyaw Maung reviewed encouraging results in socio-economic development of the two economies. The two Governors reviewed the implementation of the Memorandums of Understanding on Cooperation signed by the two countries, and made an agreement on the effective and urgent implementation of cooperation for enhancing the bilateral relation. It is expected that the two central banks will periodically organize working visits of senior leaders to share experience in various fields. In addition, the two Governors committed to facilitate for commercial banks of the two countries which have demand of operating in their countries.
