It is reported by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) that the total amount of counterfeit domestic banknotes collected through the banking system and the State Treasury in the first half of 2015 increased by 9.45% as compared to the corresponding period of 2014.
Up to now, the counterfeit polymer banknotes can be easily detected by checking security features such as shadowed image, security stripe, DOE, optical variable ink... However, if consumers are not aware of the security features of banknotes and do not check banknotes in all cash transactions, they may be at risk of counterfeiting.
Therefore, in order to combat counterfeit polymer banknotes, consumers should be aware of the security features of banknotes and carefully check banknotes in all cash transactions. Organizations and individuals are encouraged to read information about Vietnam’s currency in the Banknotes & Coins Column of the SBV Website.
