Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Jacques d’ESTAIS, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of BNP Paribas, in Hanoi on September 9.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong warmly welcomed Mr. Jacques d’ESTAIS and his colleagues to visit Vietnam on the occasion of inaugurating a branch of BNP Paribas in Hanoi. She asserted that BNP Paribas is one of the first foreign banks presenting in Vietnam and highly appreciated operations and contribution of BNP Paribas to the development of the banking sector in Vietnam over the past time.
Moreover, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong expected that in the context of overall banking reform, Hanoi branch of BNP Paribas would gain further successful performance and contribute sustainably developing Vietnamese banking sector in accordance with international practice. The SBV will continue to facilitate for BNP Paribas to operate effectively in Vietnam in line with applicable law.
For his part, Mr. Jacques d’ESTAIS congratulated on achievements that Vietnam obtained in the socio-economic development over the past time, and spoke highly of the effectiveness of the measures that Vietnamese Government and the SBV conducted for curbing inflation, stabilizing macro-economy and ensuring social protection. He also briefed the host of operational situations of BNP Paribas in global, Asia Pacific and Vietnam as well as orientation of BNP Paribas in Vietnam in the coming time.
