Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation on technical assistance in Hanoi on December 3.

At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong expressed her pleasure at the cooperative relation between Vietnam and the IMF. She said that IMF’s support for both financial resource, technical assistance and policy consultancy has contributed to helping Vietnam successfully implement socio-economic objectives.
Moreover, the SBV Deputy Governor highly appreciated the cooperation and effective support from IMF specialists of project on statistical capacity enhancement over the past three years. The results from this Project is of great importance to the SBV, including the IMF’s guidance in formulating, collecting and analyzing data relating to Table of selecting FDI sample, thereby helping the SBV supplementing reliable statistics, and IMF’s experience in implementing large-scale surveys to improve the quality of statistical data of the SBV.
She asserted that, in the coming time, the SBV can conduct the surveys on selecting samples in banking services; and expressed her hope for further support from the IMF.
For their part, the IMF delegation expressed their sincere thanks for the SBV Deputy Governor’s hospitality, and spoke highly of the active cooperation of SBV functional departments when implementing the technical assistance, thereby contributing to improving statistical capacity for the SBV. IMF committed to continue supporting for Vietnam in the future through training, technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of governmental ministries in the field of statistics.
