The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) organized a conference on tasks of banking inspection and supervision in 2016 under the chairmanship of SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh in Hanoi on December 26.
Attending the conference were Management Board of Banking Supervision Agency, representatives of SBV entities, Directors and Chief Inspectors of SBV municipal and provincial branches, and officials from Banking Supervision Agency.
Addressing the conference, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh acknowledged and spoke highly of achievements in the banking inspection and supervision over the past time, thereby greatly contributing to detecting and resolving violations and risks of the system of credit institutions, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the state management. Especially, by the year 2015, the implementation of the Scheme on restructuring the system of credit institutions for 2011 – 2015 period basically has obtained key objectives. The safety and stability of the system of credit institutions are maintained and improved. Moreover, measures of resolving NPLs contribute to improving credit quality and reducing the NPL ratio out of the total loan outstanding.
SBV Deputy Governor emphasized that this is the specialized conference reviewing the obtained results and obstacles of the supervision sector in 2015, at the same time, recommending measures of successfully implementing the tasks of banking inspection and supervision in 2016. He suggested several key tasks and orientations in 2016 as follows: continuing to renovate the organizational model and operations in order to improve the effectiveness of the banking inspection and supervision in the prevention, detection and resolution of risks and violations in the banking sector; focusing on implementing safety standards in line with Basel II applicable to credit institutions and foreign bank branches; continuing to strictly implement consistent measures of restructuring the system of credit institutions, resolving NPLs in accordance with the approved Scheme…
A the conference, the participants discussed the report of results in specialized inspection and supervision in 2015 and the inspection plan in 2016; the report of administrative inspection, complaint resolution, and anti-corruption in 2015 and plan in 2016; the report of results in restructuring credit institution system, NPL resolution in 2015 and orientations in 2016.
