According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) increases by 0.42% in February against the previous month, and by 1.27% as compared to that of the same period of 2015. Meanwhile, inflation in February, 2016 increases by 0.56% in comparison with that of January, 2016 and by 1.82% as compared to that of the same period of 2015.
Specifically, the price of eight groups of commodities out of eleven groups of commodities increases. The price of the group of food and catering services registers the highest increase of 1.98%, of which the price of food increases by 0.66%, the price of foodstuff and dinning-out service increases by 2.45% and 1.45% respectively. The price of the groups of beverage and cigarette; other commodities and services; culture, entertainment and tourism garments; textiles, hats and footwear; education; family equipment and appliances; and medicine and health services increases by 1.15%, 0.8%, 0.71%, 0.45%, 0.26%, 0.19% and 0.06% respectively.
The price of three groups of commodities decreases, of which the price of the group of transport registered decrease of 3.96%. The price of the groups of housing and construction materials and postal services declines by 0.41% and 0.16% respectively.
The gold price is up by 3.02% while USD depreciates by 0.64% against VND.
