For this second trip to Vietnam within 10 years, Mr David Cowen was impressed with the rapid change of Vietnam in the integration period.
SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong welcomed Delegation and affirmed that TAOLAM and IMF’s technical supports are very essential to Vietnam in the integration period, hoping the two sides continue to strengthen cooperative relationship in the future. The SBV Deputy Governor said SBV is currently applying internationally accepted statistic standards such as GDDS, SDDS to forecasting, analysis and policy making. Therefore, TAOLAM and IMF’s support is crucial to SBV to improve staff capacity.
The SBV Deputy Governor highly appreciated Mr Fernando Lemos, advisor on External Sector Statistic, for his recent outstanding support for the SBV conducting testing survey on Vietnam FDI. The survey paved the way for a comprehensive survey and new methods of data collecting, thus meeting more efficiently the requirements on the SBV and relevant ministries’ FDI statistics.
The SBV advocates TAOLAM’s offer to coordinate with SBV to organize training courses on macro-analysis to efficiently bolster capacity in forecasting, analysis and policy making. Besides, the SBV is willing to cooperate with TAOLAM in holding training courses and workshops for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam in order to boost cooperative relationship among these countries as well as promote staff capacity.
