Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Thi Hong had a meeting with Mr Park Sang Shik, Korean Consul General cum Ambassador to Vietnam on May 13, 2016 in SBV headquarter.

Speaking at the meeting, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong congratulated Mr Park Sang Shik and his delegation visit to the SBV. Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Korea is in the period of development. Currently, Korea is a leading FDI partner of Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam always welcomes and falicitates for foreign investors including Korean investors to invest in Vietnam. The cooperative relationship in banking sector between Vietnam and Korea has been strengthened over the past time. Particularly, the authorities on banking sector of the two sides have formulated and conducted numerous mechanisms and cooperative programs, in which, the SBV has signed a cooperative agreement with the Central Bank of Korea, the Korean Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Korean Financial Supervisory Commission. These agreements have been effectively implemented and contributed to developing the bilateral ties in financial and banking sector. Commercial Banks of Korea had early and popular presence in Vietnam. Until now, Korea is one of the countries having largest presence in finance and foreign bank in Vietnam in terms of scale and efficiently operating and well complying with Vietnam regulations and laws.
Mr Park Sang Shik thanked Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong for spending time and sharing useful information for Korean businessmen and investors to expand their opportunities to invest in Vietnam, especially in banking sector. He also congratulated the SBV on successfully holding the Asian Banker Summit in Hanoi to improve the international community’s acknowledge in active development of Vietnam economy in general and banking industry in particular. He also expressed his gratitude for SBV’s supports for Korean enterprises and credit institutions over the past time.
