Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Thi Hong had a meeting with Mr Daniel Glaser, Assistant Secretary for the Department of Treasury of the United States of America (USA), at the SBV headquarter on August 5, 2016.
The meeting was attended by representatives of SBV entities, including International Cooperation Department, Office for Preventing and Fighting Money Laundering, The Banking Supervision Agency.
At the meeting, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong warmly welcomed Mr Daniel Glaser and USA Delegation to Vietnam and SBV. Deputy Governor briefed her guests Vietnam macro-economic information and movements in banking sector in 2016 as well as the plans and solutions of Government of Vietnam, ministries and SBV to be deployed in 2016.
As regard to money laundering and terrorism sponsoring, SBV Deputy Governor said, over the past time, the SBV has issued several documents and required the system of credit institutions to proactively conduct appropriate precautions; concurrently the SBV urges relevant agencies, ministries to coordinate in dissemination to the reported objectives under the jurisdiction of ministries.
Assistant Secretary for the Department of Treasury of the US Daniel Glaser congratulated on social-economic achievements of Vietnam over the past time, especially the success of Vietnam in general and SBV in particular in anti-money laundering and counter - terrorism financing.
Mr. Daniel Glaser also discussed with Deputy Governor about the implementation of the resolution of the Security Council of the United Nations on the prevention of money laundering, and shared the experience of the Department of Treasury of the US on the anti- money laundering.
SBV Deputy Governor expressed her hope for continuing to recieve the support and experience and sharing of the Department of Treasury of the USA.
