On November 8, 2023, in Hanoi, Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha congratulated Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty on his appointment as the ADB Country Director for Vietnam, starting from July 2023. The SBV Deputy Governor expressed the SBV’s high appreciation for the ADB’s role through the comprehensive cooperation between the two sides in various areas, such as the mobilization of lending resources, technical assistance, grants and policy consultancy.
For his part, Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty shared that the ADB is committed to supporting Vietnam in the areas of green growth and the promotion of the private sector, thereby enabling Vietnam to achieve the goal of becoming an upper-middle income country by 2030. The ADB’s support in the coming time would focus on green projects and the activities to enhance the private sector engagement, as well as on the acceleration of the reforms in the state-owned enterprises.

In addition, the two sides also exchanged their views regarding the orientations and the strategies in the coming time; the substances about the preparations for the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of the credit relations between the ADB and Vietnam, as well as the upcoming working visit of the ADB President to Vietnam.
Toward the end of the meeting, the two sides expressed their beliefs in the solid cooperation between the two sides and the encouraging results achieved so far, and reaffirmed the long-term mutual support in the coming time.
