On May 13, 2026, in Hanoi, Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a meeting with a delegation of Visa Inc., led by Mr. Ryan McInerney, Chief Executive Officer of Visa Inc.

At the meeting, Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung highly appreciated Visa’s role as one of the world’s leading electronic payment technology companies, with a global network and extensive experience in developing modern payment solutions. The Deputy Governor noted that, over more than 30 years of operation in Vietnam, Visa has made significant contributions to promoting the development of the card market, cashless payments, innovation, and enhanced payment experiences for Vietnamese people.
Sharing Vietnam’s digital transformation process, Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dzung stated that Ministries and agencies, including the SBV, are actively implementing key tasks under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation.
In the field of payments, Vietnam has achieved encouraging results in promoting cashless payments, with the proportion of adults holding bank accounts reaching 88%, while the use of QR codes and other electronic payment methods has become increasingly common in daily life.

To further strengthen cooperation in the coming period, the Deputy Governor suggested that Visa continue to closely coordinate with the SBV and the credit institutions in Vietnam in researching and applying new payment solutions and technologies, as well as developing safe, convenient payment products and services that meet the needs of the people.
He also emphasized the importance of sharing experience and supporting card issuers and payment service providers in Vietnam in fraud prevention, anti-money laundering, combating high-tech crimes, and ensuring security and safety in payment activities.
For his part, Mr. Ryan McInerney reaffirmed Visa’s commitment to continuing its partnership with Vietnam’s banking sector in promoting innovation, developing digital payments, expanding financial access, and supporting the implementation of the national digital transformation goals.
