On the afternoon of April 6, 2026, at the first session of the 16th National Assembly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), was elected Vice Chairwoman of the 16th National Assembly.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hong was born in 1968 in Hanoi. She received professional training in Foreign Exchange Management at the Banking Professional Training College (now the Banking Academy of Vietnam). She holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from the National Economics University and the International Institute of Social Studies (the Netherlands).
She is a Member of the 13th and 14th Central Executive Committee of the CPV and a Deputy of the 16th National Assembly.
Throughout her career, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong has held various leadership and management positions at the SBV. She has served as Governor of the SBV since November 2020, prior to her election as Vice Chairwoman of the 16th National Assembly on April 6, 2026.
