In the framework of the official working-visit to Vietnam under the invitation of Chairperson of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the high level Delegation of the Cuban Parliament led by Mr Esteban Lazo Hernandez, President of the National Assembly of People's Power, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba had a working meeting with the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on June 13, 2017 at the SBV headquarters.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Vietnam's National Assembly, leaders of Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Finance, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and representatives from SBV Departments including: International Cooperation Department, Monetary Policy Department, Foreign Exchange Management Department, Legal Department, Banking Supervision Agency, Governor Office, Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), Joint-Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), Vietnam Joint – Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Joint–Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).
At the meeting, SBV Governor Le Minh Hung warmly welcomed President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Delegation of Cuban Parliament to work with the SBV. Governor Le Minh Hung stated that the special traditional relation, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation are the symbol of the time. Sharing the important achievements in the cause of social- economic development, living condition improvement and international integration that Vietnam has achieved since transforming toward the market-oriented economy managed by the Stated, Governor expressed his pleasure to witness Cuba’s positive reform over the past time and firmly believed that under the leadership of the Cuban Communist Party, Cuba would continue successfully their cause of reforming.
President of Cuban Parliament sincerely thanked Leaders of Vietnamese Communist Party, National Assembly, Government and relevant agencies for warm welcome Cuban Delegation, congratulating Vietnam on remarkable performance of society-economy in general and banking sector in particular.
As regard to experience of Vietnam on economic reform, SBV Governor Le Minh Hung briefed the progress of restructuring banking industry in associated with institutional and legal framework revolution; experience on reforming planning and managing monetary and foreign exchange policies in accompanied by price and wage revolution of Vietnam in reforming period.
On this occasion, Governor affirmed to continue to support the Government of Vietnam and Cuba in negotiating, signing and implementing the agreements and bilateral cooperation in order to serve the cause of building and protecting the homeland in each country.
