Speaking at the 11th AIIB Annual Meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh affirmed that Vietnam welcomes the AIIB’s efforts to scale up its operations, while emphasizing the need to take the next step: moving beyond simply expanding operations and measuring their impact toward increasingly allowing development impact to shape the direction of the Bank's expansion.
The Head of the Vietnamese delegation emphasized that the AIIB should engage earlier in the project cycle, strengthen its capacity to mobilize private capital, and ensure that its expansion is underpinned by financial sustainability and sound banking principles. This would help translate financial resources into tangible and sustainable development outcomes.

In addition to the Governors’ sessions, the Head of the Vietnamese delegation also participated as a panelist in a seminar themed “Public Digital Infrastructure as an Enabler for Resilient Economies.” At this event, Vietnam shared the central bank’s perspective on digital payments, electronic identification, trusted data, financial inclusion, and secure interoperability among digital systems.
The discussions at the seminar added a practical dimension to the overarching theme of the Annual Meeting, highlighting the importance of closely integrating technology, finance, and governance to generate sustainable development impact.
