Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Antonio Carricarte Corona, Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, in Hanoi on November 23, 2017.
Attending the meeting were representatives from SBV International Cooperation Department and Joint-Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam; Ms. Lianys Torres, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam; Cuban Embassy staff and representatives from Cuban enterprises.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong warmly welcomed the working visit of Mr. Antonio Carricarte Corona to the SBV. At the same time, on behalf of the SBV Management Board, she complimented the success of the 35th session of the Vietnam – Cuba Inter-governmental Commission in Hanoi in the previous month and expressed her belief that thanks to the enormous efforts of the two sides, the operational efficiency of the Vietnam – Cuba Inter-governmental Commission would be improved to promote the cooperation in various fields among ministries and enterprises of the two countries.
The meeting
For his part, Mr. Antonio Carricarte Corona briefed the host of the economic situation in Cuba and asserted that Cuba always highly appreciates the support of Vietnam in the process of implementing its medium-term plan of socio-economic development and a vision towards 2030. At the same time, he said that all agreements signed by the two countries greatly contributed to helping Cuba implement effectively that Plan and determine the direction for cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.
In addition, the two sides asserted to continue the close collaboration and support each other at multilateral fora and international organizations such as the participation in the International Investment Bank (IIB), the International Bank for Economic Cooperation (IBEC), etc. Vietnam and Cuba would further strengthen the traditional relations, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
