Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Dennis Hussey, Chief Executive Officer of ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd, in Hanoi on May 21.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh congratulated Mr. Dennis Hussey on being appointed as Chief Executive Officer of ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd, and expressed his belief that Mr. Dennis Hussey would play an important role in strengthening the comprehensive relation between the ANZ and the SBV in general and between the ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. and the SBV in particular. The SBV Deputy Governor emphasized that over the past years, ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. has strictly complied with the SBV regulations and operated effectively, thereby greatly contributing to the development of the banking sector in particular, and of Vietnam’s socio-economy in general. He said that the participation of foreign partners like ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. in the banking industry in Vietnam would promoting the domestic commercial banks to urgently get access to the international standards and improve operational efficiency and the competitiveness.
Moreover, the SBV Deputy Governor briefed the guest of Vietnam’s macro-economic developments for the first four months of 2015 and the SBV’s management of monetary policy, especially the restructuring of credit institution system and the NPLs resolution.
For his part, Mr. Dennis Hussey expressed his belief in the development of Vietnam’s economy. He also said that ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. has been strictly complying with Vietnam laws and the SBV regulations. In addition, he briefed the host of operational situation of ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. over the past time, and asserted that ANZ Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. would be willing to exchange experience in implementing Basel II with the SBV.
