Governor Nguyen Van Binh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Kyle Kelhofer, International Finance Corporation (IFC) Country Manager for Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, in Hanoi on November 9 on the occasion of his undertaking new working term in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Governor Nguyen Van Binh wished Mr. Kyle Kelhofer a successful working term and hoped Vietnam will continue getting support from Mr. Kyle Kelhofer to enhance the cooperation between Vietnam and IFC. On this occasion, the SBV Governor briefed the guest of remarkable achievements in the management of monetary policy of the SBV over the past time.
Regarding to the cooperation between the SBV and IFC, Governor Nguyen Van Binh welcomed investment activities of IFC and said that the IFC objective of development in private sector is in line with development strategy of Vietnam. Vietnamese Government always facilitates IFC to operate effectively in Vietnam, especially its investment in Vietnamese commercial banks. He also requested IFC to continue providing technical assistance for SBV entities and playing a role as a bridge between the SBV and foreign banks.
For his part, Mr. Kyle Kelhofer expressed his pleasure at his coming back to Vietnam after 15 years and witnessing remarkably changes in socio-economy in Vietnam. He also expressed his hope that IFC will be permitted to expand its operation in Vietnam and strengthen financing for joint-stock commercial banks.
