Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Le Minh Hung had a work meeting with Mr. Jonathan Dunn, IMF Resident Representative in Vietnam and IMF Article IV Mission Delegation on April 21st, 2016 at the SBV headquarter.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and several representatives of SBV Departments.
At the meeting, Governor Le Minh Hung warmly welcome the IMF Delegation led by Mr. John Nelmes and highly valued the effective relationship between Viet Nam and the IMF, especially the relationship between the IMF and the SBV.
The SBV Governor highly appreciated the IMF’s recommendations for Vietnam and expressed his gratitude for the IMF recognition of positive results in socio – economic development, macroeconomic stability of Vietnam. He affirmed that the SBV will continue to decisively implement the key tasks set by the Resolution of 12th National Party Congress in order to actively contribute to fulfill the development objectives for the next 5 years. The Governor spoke highly the achievements of the previous term under the leadership of former Governor Nguyen Van Binh. He stressed the key factor of SBV success in monetary policy management is the conduction of consistent and synchronous measures aiming at macroeconomic stability that was highly appreciated by the Leaders of Communist Party of Vietnam, State and Government and economic stakeholders. The Governor affirmed his commitment to decisively conduct the innovation in monetary policy management, NPL resolution and restructure of banking sector to contribute more effectively in macroeconomic and financial stability and social protection.
Mr. John Nelmes head of the IMF delegation congratulated Governor Le Minh Hung for being appointed to the highest position of the SBV. He briefed SBV Governor a summary of assessment and consultancy, and the main recommendations of the IMF Delegation on Vietnam macroeconomic, fiscal, monetary and banking situation and prospect in 2015 and the first months of 2016.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to facilitate the cooperative relationship in training, policy consultancy and technical assistance.
