On July 2, 2021, under the authorization of the Prime Minister, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and Mr. Ivo Sieber, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Vietnam, signed the Grant Agreement for the “Bank Manager Training Project”, which is supported by the Swiss Government.

The Swiss Government, through Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), has approved of the technical assistance worth CHF 5 million for the implementation of the “Bank Manager Training Project” during the period from 2021 to 2026.
The Project is aimed to improve the capabilities of mid-level managers of the commercial banks in Vietnam, thereby contributing to enhancing the banks' operational efficiency. The Project would help bank managers to be equipped with essential knowledge and skills so that they can respond effectively to opportunities and challenges from the digital transformation process, such as Fintech, thereby assisting the credit institutions to meet the increasing high requirements for the management level, helping Vietnamese banking system to develop sustainably.
The Project includes three training courses, each course consists of 13 modules and will last 18 months, with such topics as: Management and Strategy; Finance and Management; Banking Operations; Simulation practice of banking operations; and Case study of the banking system in Switzerland. It is expected that more than 240 managers of Vietnamese commercial banks will benefit directly from the Project's training program.
Moreover, the Project will also help to enhance the capabilities of the SBV staff, as well as officers of some relevant ministries and agencies through dialogues and panel discussions with Swiss financial experts, who can share their experience in the areas of Vietnam's interest.
