According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) in April 2022 increased by 0.18% against that of March 2022; up by 2.09% as compared to that of December 2021 and up by 2.64% in comparison with the same period last year.
Out of eleven groups of commodities, the prices of eight groups of commodities increased and the prices of three groups of commodities decreased.
Specifically, the price of the group of culture, entertainment and tourism registered the highest increase of 1.16%; the group of education rose by 0.96%; the group of housing and construction materials was up by 0.58%; the group of household appliances and goods increased by 0.32%; the group of beverage and cigarette rose by 0.22%; the group of medicine and healthcare increased by 0.03%; the group of other commodities and services was up by 0.18%.
The price of the group of traffic registered the highest decrease of 0.59%; the group of food and catering services declined by 0.05%.
The core inflation increased by 0.44% in April 2022 as compared with that of the previous month, and increased by 1.47% over the same time of 2021. The average core inflation for the first four months of 2022 was up by 0.97% as compared with that of the same period of 2021.
