On July 30, 2025, in Hanoi, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), in collaboration with the Bank of Korea (BOK) and Chungnam National University (the Republic of Korea), organized the Kick-off Seminar for the 2025 BOK Knowledge Partnership Program with the theme of “Strengthening the capacity of balance of payments statistics”
The Seminar was attended by representatives from the BOK, professors from several top universities in the Republic of Korea (ROK), such as Chunnam National University, Chonnam National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, and a number of relevant SBV entities, including the Department of Forecasting, Statistics - Monetary and Financial Stabilization, and the International Cooperation Department.
In her opening speech, Ms. Dao Thuy Hang, Deputy Director General of the SBV International Cooperation Department, emphasized that the BOK-KPP is one of the most effective technical assistance programs of the BOK for the SBV over the past decade, and believed that the 2025 KPP would continue to be successful, contributing to further strengthening the bilateral cooperation in the banking sector between Vietnam and the ROK.

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Dong Hyun Lee, Deputy Director General of the BOK International Cooperation Department, and Professor Kiyoung JEON from Chungnam National University, acknowledged the active and effective working process of both sides, and believed that the Korean partners in the KPP would coordinate with the SBV to build a quality research report, contributing to the overall success of the KPP.
Representatives of the two central banks’ International Cooperation Departments signed the Minutes of Discussion on the implementation of the 2025 KPP.
The two sides also made presentations introducing an overview of the KPP, the current situation of the SBV’s balance of payments statistics, the frameworks for the BOK’s balance of payments statistics, including the legal framework, the databases, etc., thereby helping the two sides to obtain necessary information to develop a research report outline and prepare for the next implementation steps.

On this occasion, under authorization of the leaderships of the SBV and the BOK, the representatives from the International Cooperation Departments of the two central banks signed the Minutes of Discussion on the implementation of the 2025 KPP.
