Deputy-Governor Nguyen Kim Anh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with an Amazon Delegation led by Mr. Milinda Kotelawele, Business Development Manager for Asean on December 8, 2016 at SBV headquarters.

The meeting was attended by representatives of SBV entities and specialists from Amazon.
Deputy-Governor Nguyen Kim Anh warmly welcomed the Amazon Delegation’s working meeting with the SBV. He said that he believed the two sides would cooperate together in successfully achieving the application of information technology in the service of developing modern banking services in Vietnam.
The SBV Deputy-Governor said that the banking sector was one of the pioneer sectors in IT application and considered it as not only a challenge but also an opportunity for developing the banking industry.
The Deputy-Governor hoped to discuss further issues with Mr. Kotelawele regarding the application of digital-banking and other developments such as: Amazon's solutions for minimising the risks to customer security when deploying digital banking services through an e-cloud platform; Amazon’s responsibilities to customers when risks occur; the trend on switching to the use of e-cloud services in banking and the financial sector in ASEAN and globally; Amazon’s experience in this field; and the products and services Amazon can provide to credit institutions in Vietnam.

Currently, Amazon is cooperating with a foreign bank in Vietnam to deploy e-cloud and other digital banking services.
The Business Development Manager for Asean also offered a number of recommendations regarding digital banking applications and development, and talked about Amazon’s plan to expand their cooperation with banks and companies in Vietnam.
Currently, the SBV has been working on the issuance of guidelines to encourage more credit institutions to use e-cloud services in 2017. The SBV is also formulating regulations to minimize risks to credit institutions in implementing this type of service effectively, as well as providing technical solutions for managing institutions to supervise and inspect the compliance of credit institutions.
