Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Governor highlighted the role of digital payments, electronic identification, and trusted data in expanding access to financial services. He emphasized that the resilience of digital systems is reflected not only by the speed and scale of digitalization, but also in their safety, reliability, and ability to maintain operations during challenging circumstances.
From a regional perspective, the Deputy Governor identified transforming "digital connectivity" into more substantive "economic connectivity" as a key opportunity. He emphasized that sustainable expansion of regional connectivity requires close coordination among regulatory authorities and effective complementarity between the public and private sectors. Specifically, the public sector is responsible for establishing appropriate frameworks, standards, and supervisory mechanisms, while the private sector contributes technology, innovation, and the capacity to scale up services.
The Deputy Governor also called on the AIIB to continue playing an active role in three key areas: enhancing knowledge and experience sharing among its members; providing support from the early stages of project preparation to translate digital strategies into well-structured and implementable programs; and providing financing while mobilizing additional resources, particularly private capital.
Through these efforts, the AIIB can support member economies in taking digital initiatives from ideas and pilot projects to large-scale implementation, thereby contributing to stronger economic connectivity and sustainable development.
