Governor Le Minh Hung of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr.Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Hanoi on March 7. Attending the meeting were representatives of International Cooperation Department and SBV Office.
At the meeting, SBV Governor Le Minh Hung warmly welcomed the working visit of AIIB President Jin Liqun to Vietnam. He highly appreciated the effort of AIIB Management Board in putting AIIB into operation as one of the large financial institutions in the region, thereby bringing prosperity for Asia through investment and infrastructure connection for AIIB members. He emphasized Vietnam spoke highly of AIIB Management Boar’s support for infrastructure development in Vietnam. He said Vietnamese Government would research for making recommendations about cooperation plan in the coming time (via the SBV which is its representative at AIIB). He expressed his hope that AIIB, apart from supporting for public sector, would focus on encouraging and supporting for private sector to develop investment in infrastructure in Vietnam and formulate policies on the above –mentioned issue.
For his part, AIIB President expressed his impression on dynamic development in Vietnam. He said AIIB would be willing to support and provide finance in various forms to develop infrastructure in Vietnam. He also emphasized the important role of private sector in developing infrastructure, contributing to sharing and reducing pressure on public debts. AIIB committed to support private sector to get access to AIIB’s funding resources on the basis of loan efficiency to both foreign and domestic investors.
