On May 11, 2018, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien had a meeting with Mr. Wang Jing Dong, Senior Executive Vice President of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited (ICBC).
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien welcomed ICBC high ranking officers delegation led by Mr. Wang Jing Dong to visit and work with the SBV. He emphasized that China is an important partner of Vietnam, the cooperation in the fields of economy, commerce and investment between Vietnam and China has been constantly strengthened and is progressing well. In the banking sector, there have been many cooperative arrangements between the two countries. By May 2018, China had had five credit institutions operating in Vietnam. ICBC, which is currently the largest commercial bank in China, has been granted the license for opening its branch in Hanoi. The SBV Deputy Governor highly appreciated the contributions of ICBC to the banking operations and expressed his confidence about ICBC’s compliance with Vietnamese laws and regulations, that the Bank would make the best out of its experience in management to operate effectively and efficiently in Vietnam, thereby contributing to the economic development and Vietnam’s banking industry as well as enhancing the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and China.
For his part, Mr. Wang Jing Dong, on behalf of the ICBC delegation, sincerely thanked Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien for his hospitality and support for ICBC during the past time. He also spoke highly of the achievements Vietnam has obtained in the socio-economic development, and expressed his hopes that the SBV and other relevant authorities would continue to support ICBC in expanding its operational network in Vietnam.
