On December 19, 2023, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha had a meeting with Mr. Byung Wha Jang, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea (BOK), and currently Senior Advisor of the BOK-Knowledge Partnership Program (BOK-KPP) in 2023. This is the cooperation program between the SBV and the BOK, and has been implemented since 2016 with the aim of developing research reports on the topics of the SBV’s interest.
At the meeting, Mr. Byung Wha Jang briefed the hosts of the implementation progress of the Program in 2023. Accordingly, the final advisory report of the topic on “Forecasting cash demands in Vietnam’s economy” would be finalized in January 2024 before being submitted to the SBV’s Board of Management.

Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha expressed the SBV’s gratitude for the BOK’s support to the SBV within the BOK-KPP framework, and highly complimented the implementation progress of the research team. Moreover, the SBV Deputy Governor assessed that this is a practical, effective and comprehensive cooperation program, and it is an opportunity for the SBV officers to learn new knowledge and experience from the Korean experts. Therefore, the SBV Deputy Governor hoped that the two sides would continue to carry out more research programs in the coming time.

For his part, Mr. Byung Wha Jang, former BOK Deputy Governor and currently Senior Advisory of the BOK-KPP in 2023, highly complimented the enthusiasm and dedication of the research teams of the two countries. Mr. Byung Wha Jang expressed his hope that the outcomes of the 2023 BOK-KPP would contribute significantly to the Government’s directions in general and the SBV’s management in particular.
