On December 12, 2024, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son had a meeting with Mr. Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland. At the meeting, the two sides shared about their experience and discussed about the banking cooperation activities and plan for the coming time, especially on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland.
Delivering his opening speech, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son welcomed Mr. Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski and the Polish Ambassador, as well as other members in the Polish delegation to visit and work with the SBV. The SBV Deputy Governor affirmed that the cooperative relations between Vietnam and Poland have been growing very well, including the cooperation between the two central banks. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland (1950-2025), the Government of Vietnam as well as the SBV hope that the bilateral partnership between the two countries would be raised to a new height.
Exchanging information in the areas of mutual interest, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son informed that since the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the bilateral cooperation signed between the SBV and the National Bank of Poland (NBP) in 2003, the NBP had provided a lot of technical assistance to help strengthen the SBV officers’ capacity in the monetary and banking operations. Recently, Vietnamese banks and their Polish partners have established over 70 account connections and agency relations, thereby supporting positively the bilateral trade and investment activities between the two countries.
Over the recent months, in the context of complex and unpredictable developments in the international economic and geopolitical situations, Vietnam's economy has continued to maintain its growth recovery momentum, while the inflation has been maintained stably continuously for the last ten years. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Bartoszewski expressed his thanks to the SBV Deputy Governor for taking the time to meet his delegation. According to Mr. Bartoszewski, Vietnam and Poland have a lot of similarities in the process of reforms and development, and the Polish Government has always supported the cooperative activities between the two central banks, especially in the application of high tech and digital technology into the banking practices.
Currently, Poland has been applying an integrated mobile payment solution for different platforms, which not only provides convenient services to customers, but also supports the credit institutions and the regulatory agencies in ensuring the safety and security of the payment operations.
An overview of the meeting
Both sides agreed that, in addition to the development of the political and the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the economic cooperation between Vietnam and Poland should continue to be raised to a new height, creating more favorable conditions for the bilateral trade and investment activities. In the coming time, the SBV and the NBP should continue to implement and develop more cooperative activities, enhance the information and experience exchanges on the key issues of mutual interest.
