The National Credit Information Center of Vietnam (CIC) joined NICE in organizing the Risk Management Conference 2015 in Hanoi on April 14. Attending the workshop were Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV); Mr. Sanjay Kalra, IMF Resident Representative in Vietnam; senior leaders from CIC and NICE; Directors and Deputy Directors of Risk Management from several credit institutions…
On behalf of the SBV Management Board, Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh expressed his sincere thanks for the effective cooperation and support of NICE for CIC’s operations as well as credit institutions of Vietnam in risk management. He believed that through the conference, credit institutions and participants will learn useful measures of credit risk management of NICE as well as valuable experience in the application of Basel II rules to South Korean commercial banks to better comply with SBV regulations, common trend and international standards in the banking field.
The SBV Deputy Governor also stated that, currently, the SBV has chosen ten commercial banks to pilot the application of Basel II standards. Moreover, he went on that the SBV has been gradually managing the banking sector in accordance with more strict standards such as the issuance and the implementation of loan classification and risk provisioning. Therefore, he asserted that credit institutions should develop risk management system in a modern manner, and catch up international standards in their management and operations.
Currently, CIC information data base supports credit institutions from the stage of customer strategy, and finding customers to the stage of making decisions on lending, monitoring post - lending, debt recovery and resolution…In addition, the CIC has coordinated with international organizations to formulate and provide solutions package of credit scoring and rating.
