The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Le Minh Hung had a courtesy meeting with H.E Joseph Devine, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam on September 7, 2016 at the SBV headquarter.
At the meeting, Governor Le Minh Hung affirmed, the Government of Vietnam highly appreciated the valuable supports and assistance from the Government of Canada to the development of Vietnam socio-economy, particularly in financial-banking sector. Especially, the Project of banking reform sponsored by CIDA had gained significant results. Governor Le Minh Hung briefed his guest Vietnam macro-economic information and movements in banking sector and macro economy in the first 8 months of 2016 as well as the plans and solutions of Government of Vietnam, ministries and SBV to be deployed in 2016. The SBV Governor also mentioned the five-year Vietnam Socio-economic Development Strategy for 2016 – 2020 and expressed his hope that the Government of Canada and the Bank of Canada would continue supporting with technical assistance and training for Vietnam banking sector.
For his part, Ambassador David Devine expressed his pleasure on the development of good cooperation relationship between the two countries Canada – Vietnam as well as between the ministries, governmental agencies of Vietnam and Canada.
