The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) had a meeting on the Banking Regulation and Supervision Support (BRASS) Project funded by the GAC in Hanoi on October 4.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), representatives of the Baking Supervision Agency (BAC), Project Management Board; Ms. Kate Reekie, Deputy Director of Development at the Canadian Embassy…in Hanoi on October 4.
Speaking at the meeting, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh expressed his sincere thanks to Canadian Government for supporting Vietnam’s socio-economic development in general and the banking sector in particular through many practical projects, of which the BRASS project is one of the key and meaningful projects to the SBV. He said that the successful implementation of the project will strengthen and improve the capacity of the BAC in line with international standards and practices, thereby ensuring safe and sound operations of the system of credit institutions and contributing to the implementation of restructuring the banking sector in Vietnam. He expressed his hope that after the meeting, the two sides will closely coordinate and proactively implement components of the project to ensure the completion as schedule.
At the meeting, the attendants discussed the implementation of the project as well as analyzed the advantages and obstacles when implementing the BRASS project, then suggested the solutions to accelerate the progress of the project.
