Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) granted licenses to representatives from Woori Bank Vietnam and a branch of Nonghyup Bank in Hanoi on November 7, 2016.
At the ceremony, the SBV Deputy Governor congratulated Woori Bank Vietnam on being granted a license to establish the wholly foreign–owned bank in Vietnam, and Nonghyup Bank on its establishment of a branch in Hanoi. He hoped that the established banks would be in operation as soon as possible and would always comply with Vietnamese laws in order to operate their businesses most effectively, thereby contributing actively to both the development of Vietnam’s economy and the banking sector in general, as well as enhancing the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea.
Mister Kim Seung Rock, General-Director of Woori Bank Vietnam and Mister Lee Woo Sik, Director of the Hanoi branch of Nonghyup Bank together expressed their belief that the established banks would operate effectively to enable South Korean and Vietnamese enterprises to boost investment, production and business, so improving the economic growth of each country. They also hoped tgat the SBV and relevant Vietnamese ministries would support and create favorable conditions for the established banks to extend their operations, provide up-to-date banking services and develop their branches and transaction points to better serve their customers.
