Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Ousmane Dione, Country Director of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam, in Hanoi on November 18, 2016.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong welcomed Mr Dione and a World Bank Delegation from the Inclusive Finance Program, led by Madam Margaret J. Miller. The SBV Deputy Governor congratulated Mister Dione on taking up his new task as Country Director of the World Bank in Vietnam, and expressed her belief that he would continue to further support Vietnam with his valuable experience.
The Deputy Governor expressed her appreciatation for the World Bank’s support and said that the relationship between Vietnam and the World Bank, as well as the SBV and the WB, was being increasingly consolidated and strengthened. She hoped the WB's Country Director would inherit and build on his predecessor’s achievements in furthering their relationship.
Regarding the Vietnam 2035 report, SBV's Deputy Governor spoke highly of the alignment of the Report’s content with the assessments, guidances and plans set by 12th National Congress of Communist Party of Vietnam. She also asked the WB for it's support Vietnam in soon implementing the set objectives
As an active partner, the WB has fully supported Vietnam in the process of formulating the Strategy of Inclusive finance. SBV Deputy Governor hoped that the WB would mobilize more resources to assist Vietnam in implementing the Strategy of Inclusive Finance Development and promote inclusive financial activities.
At the meeting, Mr. Dione and the delegation also discussed a number of matters relating to the formulation of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF), including: a priority focus of the banking sector; the roadmap for the future activities; and technical support to the SBV with focus on ways to promote inclusive finance.
