The Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Delegation of The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) led by Mr D.J Pandian Vice-President cum Chief Investment Officer, with Representatives from Investment Department, Strategy and Policy Department. As for the SBV, the meeting was attended by representatives of International Cooperation Department and the Governor Office.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong welcomed the AIIB Vice-President for the first visit to Vietnam and expressed her belief that the AIIB Delegation would achieve positive results in the time working in Vietnam. SBV Deputy Governor spoke highly the AIIB Management Board’s efforts in accelerating the AIIB operation as one of the leading financial institutions in the region with the aim of bringing the prosperity to Asia through investing and connecting the infrastructure.
Deputy Governor stated that Vietnam highly appreciates the support and attention of AIIB management board in developing the infrastructure in Vietnam. As one of the first countries participating to the progress of establishing AIIB, Vietnam has practical contribution to AIIB. Vietnam is also a trusty and responsible partner in the progress of completing the current structure and policy regime as well as ongoing activities of the AIIB. The SBV, a representative agency under the assignment of the Government of Vietnam, will research and submit specific proposals on the cooperation with AIIB. Concurrently, SBV Deputy Governor expressed her hope that apart from funding to public sector, AIIB would consider encouraging and supporting the private sector to invest in infrastructure development of Vietnam and she hoped AIIB would soon have particular orientation and policies in this field.
At the meeting, Dr Pandian, AIIB Vice President expressed his sincere thanks to Deputy Governor for receiving AIIB Delegation. Dr Pandian underlined the message of the AIIB Management Board on valuable contribution and support of the Government of Vietnam in the early time of the initiative of establishing AIIB of China. Dr Pandian affirmed that AIIB attaches great importance to the cooperation with Vietnam, and this working visit illustrated the great interest of AIIB for Vietnam. AIIB hopes to cooperate with Vietnam in infrastructure projects determined after this working visit. In the coming time, AIIB would cooperate with different financial institutions to co-funding for projects of infrastructure development in Vietnam.
