The SBV delegation led by Deputy Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong included representatives from International Cooperation Department, Foreign Exchange Management Department and Banking Supervision Agency.
13th ASEAN Central Bank Governors’ Meeting and 3rd ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Joint Meeting was organized on April 7 in Cebu, Philippines under the chairmanship of Mr. Carlos G. Dominguez III, Minister of Finance and Mr. Amando M. Tetangco, Jr., Governor of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
At the meeting, Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors emphasized the importance of considering FINTECH in cooperation initiatives such as ABIF and PSS in the coming time. Speaking at the Meetings, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong said: “We are facing the fourth industrial revolution; Vietnam welcomes the addition of substance related to the monitoring of FINTECH development to regional cooperation substances; and requests working groups to continue researching for new ideas on regional cooperation in stick to rapid changes in technology applied to finance and banking sector”.
Previously, on April 6, Vietnamese delegation had attended a forum among ASEAN Central Bank Governors and CEO of commercial banks; at the same time, they worked with US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) under the leadership of Mr. Alexander C.Feldman, President & CEO of the USABC. At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong briefed the USABC delegation of directives of Vietnamese Government and the SBV in macro-economic management as well as answered some questions concerning with payment services provision and financial services, monetary policy and exchange rate implementation on the basis of ensuring macro-balances and cooperative potentials between the two sides.
