According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.11% in July against the previous month, by 0.31% as compared to that of December, 2016, and rose by YoY of 3.91%.
The price of eight groups of commodities out of eleven groups of commodities increased as compared to the previous month. The price of the group of other commodities and services registered the highest increase of 0.73%. The price of the groups of food and catering services rose by 0.54%; the price of the groups of medicine and health services; family equipment and appliances; and education increased by 0.36%, 0.09%, and 0.05% respectively; three groups of beverage and cigarette; garments, textiles, hats and footwear rose by 0.04%; the price of the group of housing and construction materials increased by 0.03%.
Three of three groups of transport; postal services; and culture, entertainment and tourism declined by 1.52%, 0.06% and 0.03% respectively in comparison with June, 2017.
Core inflation in July, 2017 increased by 0.11% as compared to that of the previous month, and by 1.30% in comparison with that of the same period of 2016. Average core inflation for 7 months increased by 1.49% in comparison with that of the same period of 2016.
The gold price was down by 0.08% while USD appreciated by 0.09% against VND as compared to that of June, 2017.
