Governor Le Minh Hung of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Herminio López Diaz, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, in Hanoi on September 7. Attending the meeting were representatives from the International Cooperation Department, Banking Supervision Agency and SBV Office.
At the meeting, Governor Le Minh Hung highly appreciated the Ambassador’s great contributions to enhancing traditional relations between Vietnam and Cuba. At the same time, he expressed his sincere thanks to the Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam for his close cooperation and enthusiastic support for cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cuba in the banking field. He also congratulated on Cuba’s achievements in the socio-economy. He asserted that the SBV would always support and share experience in the management of macro-economy, especially in the banking sector.
For his part, Ambassador Herminio López Diaz sincerely thanked Governor Le Minh Hung for his warm hospitality. He briefed the host encouraging results in his tenure and showed his sentiment for Vietnam’s banking field. He also said that Cuba’s economy has been in the changing period, so it was necessary for Cuba to exchange experience with Vietnam (including the SBV) to formulate appropriate policies, thereby boosting the economic reform and improving people’s living standards. He affirmed to always support and conduct activities to contribute to promoting traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries in general and between the two central banks in particular.
Moreover, the two sides agreed that the two countries should further strengthen cooperation in the banking industry, and hoped that the two central banks would play an effective role in connecting commerce and investment between Vietnam and Cuba.
