The State Bank of Vietnam coordinating with VIETSWIFT to organize SWIFT User Group Meeting – Vietnam in Hanoi on November 1st, 2017 in order to implement annual tasks and substances related to operations of VIETSWIFT.
Attending the Meeting were Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, Director General of SBV Banking Operations Center –cum- President of VIETSWIFT; Mr.Nguyen Le Nam, Deputy Director General of SBV Banking Operations Center; Mr.Jean-Philoppe Soubry, Director, Head of South Asia and Oceania SWIFT Compliance Services/Business Intelligence; SWIFT experts and representatives from credit institutions as members of VIETSWIFT.

Delivering the opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, Director General of SBV Banking Operations Center –cum- President of VIETSWIFT, asserted that the aim of the annual meeting was to help VIETSWIFT members exchange international payment activities over the past time, raising obstacles as well as new technology in this sector. He said network and customer security together with dynamic development of technology have impacted on international settlement. Therefore, this annual meeting reviewed overall operations of VIETSWIFT over the recent time; at the same time, made recommendations to domestic members and briefed operations of VIETSWIFT delegation on the occasion of SIBOS meeting held in Toronto, Canada. He expressed his belief that the VIETSWIFT annual meeting would provide its members information and important recommendations in order to implement their tasks in the future.

Moreover, Mr. Nguyen Le Nam, Deputy Director General of SBV Banking Operations Center, reported operational situations of VIETSWIFT over the past year. Currently, VIETSWIFT has 86 members, of which there are 13 members as shareholders, 44 auxiliary members and 29 members as non-shareholders. By September, 2017, in regard of SWIFT utilization, Vietnam ranked the 54th out of 230 countries.

At the meeting, representatives from SWIFT presented such substances as SWIFT global payments innovation update, SWIFT compliance services, business intelligence update as well as guidance for the implementation of customer security program.
