In Hanoi, on November 14, 2017, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held a closing ceremony on “the Project for strengthening capacity of the SBV in printing ink production” under the chairmanship of SBV Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Akito Takahashi, Senior Representative of JICA Vietnam Office; Mr. Takenori Kajiura, the Second Secretary of Embassy of Vietnam; Mr. Hiroshi Iwasaki, Chief Advisor of the Project; Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Chairman of Board of Directors of National Banknote Printing Plant and representatives from SBV relevant departments.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu warmly welcomed the working visit of Japanese experts to attend the third general cooperation meeting between the SBV and JICA within the framework of the Project. He emphasized that this meeting was of great importance for reviewing results after three years of implementation of the Project.
On behalf of the SBV Management Board, the SBV Deputy Governor sincerely thanked for enthusiastic support of JICA for Vietnam in general and the SBV in particular in various fields over the past years, especially the support of JICA for “the Project for strengthening capacity of the State Bank of Vietnam in printing ink production”.

Mr. Akito Takahashi, Senior Representative of JICA Vietnam Office, assessed that thanks for the enormous efforts of the relevant sides, the Project was implemented as scheduled and gained expected results. He also informed, in the reviewing session, five experts from the SBV were assessed to acquire basically necessary techniques in printing ink production; at the same time, he expected these experts would attend seminars on training and technology transferring to the staff of the National Banknote Printing Plant. Besides, he expressed his impression on advanced equipments installed in the National Banknote Printing Plant which was launched on November 8, 2017. He said the JICA would continue considering ODA projects for supporting Vietnam in the coming time.
At the meeting, Mr.Hiroshi Iwasaki, Chief Advisor of the Project, reported about operations and results of the implementation of the Project in 2017. Moreover, representative from the National Banknote Printing Plant presented plan of the Plant after completing the Project.
To conclude the meeting, Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu highly appreciated the results of the Project as well as the support and assistance from JICA, Embassy of Japan and relevant sides in the process of implementing the Project.
On this occasion, the SBV Deputy Governor awarded the Governor’s Certificate of Merit to Mr. Hiroshi Iwasaki, Chief Advisor of the Project, for his contribution to Vietnam’s banking sector.
