In Hanoi, on March 13, 2018, Governor Le Minh Hung of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a meeting with Mister Yasou Fujita, Former Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Mister Tetsuo Konaka, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office.

At the meeting, Governor Le Minh Hung warmly welcomed the working visit of Mister Yasou Fujita and Mister Tetsuo Konaka to the SBV. He also expressed his sincere thanks to Mister Yasou Fujita for his support and cooperation in the implementation of JICA’s technical assistance projects for the SBV over the past time when he was Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office. The SBV Governor wished that the SBV will continue to get the support of Mister Yasou Fujita in the coming time.

At the same time, he congratulated Mr. Tetsuo Konaka on being appointed as Chief Representative JICA Vietnam Office. He expressed his hope that Mr. Tetsuo Konaka will support the SBV for implementing on-going projects effectively and providing assistance to the SBV in formulating supported projects (in the fields of restructuring the system if credit institutions and resolving NPLs) with the aim of promptly handling with difficulties and challenges in finance and banking sector in Vietnam.
Moreover, Governor Le Minh Hung sincerely thanked to the Japanese Government for supporting the development of Vietnam as well as to the JICA for supporting the SBV enthusiastically and steadfastly through the years. He affirmed that Japan has always been a reliable partner of the Government of Vietnam in general and the SBV in particular through the areas in which it is supporting. JICA’s technical assistance projects have contributed to helping the SBV enhance its capacity in the fields of monetary policy, banking supervision, etc.

For his part, Mister Yasou Fujita, Former Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office, expressed his sincere thanks to the SBV Governor and SBV relevant departments for proactively cooperating with him and JICA Vietnam Office to implement projects over the past time. He said that due to request for rotation of JICA staff, he ended the term of Chief Representative of JICA Office in Vietnam in March, 2018, and expected to work in the research field of JICA Research Institute in Japan. He also introduced to the SBV Governor Mr. Tetsuo Konaka, who was appointed Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office in March, 2018. Besides, on being new position, Mister Yasou Fujita confirmed he will continue to exchange information and support for the SBV.

Expressing his pleasure to visit Vietnam on his new position, Mr. Tetsuo Konaka, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office, said that he will develop his capacity, wisdom, experience as well as closely coordinate with Vietnam authorities to accomplish the tasks and conduct many technical assistance projects in Vietnam in general and for the SBV in particular, thereby contributing to strengthening the cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.
