At the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), in the afternoon on May 17, 2018, Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh had a meeting with Mr. Kimihisa Imada, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JCB International Co., Ltd. (JCB). Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Payment Department, the Information Technology Department and the International Cooperation Department.
On behalf of the SBV Board of Management, Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh welcomed JCB delegation led by CEO Kimihisa Imada to visit and work with the SBV.
Speaking at the meeting, the SBV Deputy Governor said that the current trend of payment is the continuous development of digital technology. The SBV welcomed the improvements, innovations and applications of modern technologies to payment activities by JCB. Assessing the performance of JCB in Vietnam, he acknowledged the dynamic growth of JCB card payment over the past time.
For his part, CEO Kimihisa Imada sincerely thanked Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh for his hospitality and support for JCB. He also briefed the hosts of the payment situations in Asia and in the world; new payment technologies which JCB is developing and are expected to be officially introduced in the coming time. Up to now, there have been eight commercial banks issuing JCB cards and eleven commercial banks accepting payment via JCB cards in Vietnam. This reflects large potentials for the development of payment via JCB cards in Vietnam in the future, especially in the context that the Government and the SBV have been promoting card payments in particular and non-cash payments in general in Vietnam.
Toward the end of the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh hoped that JCB would continue to share its experience in new payment technologies, thus contribute to the promotion of e-Payments and non-cash payments in Vietnam.
