On May 23, 2018, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son had a meeting with the World Bank (WB) delegation led by Mr. Alwaleed Fareed Alatabani - Lead Financial Sector Specialist at the WB in Vietnam.
Also attending the meeting were representatives from the SBV’s International Cooperation Department, Monetary Forecasting & Statistics Department, Monetary and Financial Stabilization Department, VAMC and the Banking Supervision Agency; and representatives from the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam… Other representatives from WB were Mrs. Katia D'Hulster - Senior Financial Sector Specialist and other WB experts;

At the meeting, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son discussed with the WB mission on the following issues: Overall legal framework of the SBV; Legal framework for inspection and supervision; New legal framework and current legal reform situation related to Resolution No. 42 and the Law on the amendment and supplement a number of articles of the Law on Credit Institutions; Plans and orientations of legal reform in the coming time such as: The overall legal strategy of the SBV during the period 2018-2022: Goals, timelines, challenges and legal obstacles.
Mr. Alwaleed Fareed Alatabani - Lead Financial Sector Specialist presented to the Deputy Governor a number of key findings and recommendations from the WB team following technical meetings with relevant units of the SBV.

On behalf of the SBV Board of Management, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son highly appreciated WB's assessments and recommendations, especially WB's technical assistance to the SBV in the recent past; at the same time Deputy Governor hoped WB will continue to support the SBV and Vietnam in many fields in the coming time such as: The legal basis for interventions and the handlings of weak credit institutions, legal framework on risk-based inspection and supervision, the mechanism of protecting the responsibility of inspection and supervision officers ...
