SBV revises the License of Malayan Banking Berhad – Ho Chi Minh City branch

Accordingly, the SBV granted the License to open a foreign bank branch No. 05/GP-NHNN dated March 29th, 2005 to the Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch as follows:

Name of branch: Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch; Head office: Sun Wah Tower Building, 115 Nguyen Hue, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Capital granted of the Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch is 15 million USD, with a 20-year operational period starting March 29th, 2005.

Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch is allowed to carry out activities of commercial banks in accordance with the provisions of law and of SBV, including the following activities:

(i) Receiving non-term deposits, saving deposits and other deposits;

(ii) Granting credit under the following forms: lending, discount, rediscount negotiable tools and valuable Papers, banking guarantees, credit cards issuance, domestic factoring;

(iii) Opening payment account for customers;

(iv) Providing domestic payment services, including: supply means of payment; providing check payment services, payment orders, standing and encashment orders, credit letters, bank cards…;

(v) Account opening includes: account opening at the SBV; account opening at other credit institutions and branches of other foreign banks;

(vi) Internal payment and participation in national interbank system;

(vii) Cash management services;

(viii) Consulting on enterprise finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and investment;

(ix) The purchase and sale of enterprise bonds;

(x) Borrowing from the SBV in line with the refinancing form under the provisions of the Law on the State Bank of Vietnam and the SBV’s guidance;

(xi) Borrowing, lending, depositing, receiving capital from credit institutions, branches of foreign banks, domestic and foreign credit institutions in accordance with law and the SBV’s guidance;

(xii) Agents in the fields related to banking activities insurance business according to the provisions of law and the guidance of the State Bank of Vietnam.

(xiii) Sales and supply foreign exchange services on the domestic and international market in the frame work regulated by the SBV.

During the operation period, Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch is required to comply with Vietnam’s law. 

This License takes effect from the date of signing and replaces the License for opening a foreign bank branch No. 05/GP-NHNN dated March 29th, 2005 granted for Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch together with the relevant approving documents of the amendment and supplement of the License, which include: Decision No. 471/QD-NHNN dated March 24th, /2017 amending the operation contents of the License of Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch; Decision No. 2100/QD-NHNN dated October 6th, 2017 on the amendment of the License of Malayan Banking Berhad Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch.
