On May 29th, 2018, at the headquarter of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien had a meeting with Mr. Somchit Inthamith - the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce and the delegation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Attending the meeting are representatives from SBV departments: Credit Department of Economic sectors, International Cooperation Department and other representatives from a number of large commercial banks of Vietnam.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien welcomed Mr. Somchit Inthamith with the delegation to visit and work with the SBV. The Deputy Governor emphasized that Vietnam and Lao PDR are two neighboring countries with a traditional friendship, a strong bond and a growing friendship. Every year, a large number of high-level and technical exchanges are organized between the two parties, contributing actively to the strengthening of the friendship between the two countries, at the same time, support for strengthening the capacity of each party. Deputy Governor Nguyen Dong Tien emphasized that SBV is ready to share, cooperate and support based on experiences, successes and challenges in its management.

The content of the meeting focused on a number of issues: Policy to encourage commercial banks for SMEs access to financial resources; Activities, programs and projects to support SMEs access to finance from successful commercial banks and access to finance from other organizations.
In the scope of the meeting, representatives from SBV Credit Department of Economic sectors also discussed about "Credit policy supporting SMEs in Vietnam", including the main contents: (i) Policy framework supporting SMEs in Vietnam; (ii) Bank credit policy supporting SMEs; (iii) Orientation and solutions to SMEs credit policies in the coming time.
The two parties also exchanged professional issues, shared experiences as well as solutions to problems in the management practices of Vietnam for the Lao colleagues to consult.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Somchit Inthamith sincerely thanked and highly appreciated the guidance, supports and sharing of experiences from the State Bank of Vietnam, which meeting the needs of the delegation. Mr. Somchit Inthamith believes that the members of the delegation will learn the valuable experiences and apply to their practices. At the same time, he trusts that the friendship and comprehensive cooperation, brotherly comradeships between the two countries Vietnam – Laos will continue growing to the new level.
